Two prizes recognising automation research that impacts industrial capacity

IPU Fonden is awarding two prizes of DKK 100,000 each to recognise researchers under the theme: Automation as a driver for innovation and industrial collaboration.

Denmark has historically been at the forefront of automation, largely because research and industry work closely together. The two winners of IPU Prisen 2026 represent the two sides of what comes next:

  • Intelligent execution: robots that handle large, complex and changing production tasks.
  • Intelligent decision-making: autonomous systems that act safely under uncertainty.

Each winner will show how their research made it into industrial use and give a realistic view of the next five years.

Automation is moving fast, while autonomy still has some challenges to solve. Their examples come from maritime, energy/offshore and defence, but the lessons apply to any company working with automation.

The presentations are followed by an open floor discussion, where you can bring your own questions and perspectives.
